Downtown San Francisco, December 2012
This kind of winter afternoon light continues to fascinate me. It's glorious.
I'm currently reading this fantasy novel by Laini Taylor and came across a lovely quote:
“Happiness. It was the place where passion, with all its dazzle and drumbeat, met something softer: homecoming and safety and pure sunbeam comfort. It was all those things, intertwined with the heat and the thrill, and it was as bright within her as a swallowed star.”
// Title is taken from the opening line of this poem by Emily Dickinson.
that excerpt is stunning...it feels so true.
ReplyDeleteyes, yes. i never thought about happiness this way before but it's so true. i especially love the "swallowed star" part. :)
DeleteMs. O, i've never seen the city from this standing point... it's breathtaking ...the skyscrapers look as if there protecting the church in this soft light ...cheers!
ReplyDeleteMs. M, i love your description of the skyscrapers protecting the church. it does look that way. and yes, i hope you can visit the yerba buena gardens and see the city from this point soon. :)
DeleteThank you for sharing this book. I'll put it in my list. By the way, if that photo taken in film? I like it. :)
